As cliched as it sounds, I will say it anyway..Each of us is unique. In many many aspects – our talents, our body shape, the way our mind works, the colour of our hair, the colour of our eyes etc. etc. Personally I encourage you to use whichever colour makes you happy, when it comes to makeup. Certainly, there are some “rules”, but in the end of the day, if you love blue, go ahead! find that blue eyeshadow or pencil that you always dreamed of having, and don’t be afraid to use it!
Anyhow, I think it doesn’t hurt to also have an idea which colours in theory would suit you best. So if you have say blue, or bluish-greyish eyes, what should you pick?
Well, colour wheel to the rescue =>
Whether you have to pick a foundation, or concealer, or eyeshadow colour…the colour wheel can answer your question immediately ๐ You noticed that white, grey, black and brown are not included…that is because they are considered neutral colours. Neutrals can easily be paired with any colour. Blue, red, and yellow are the so called primary colours – they cannot be formed by any other colour, but combinations of these primary colours lie in the formation of all other colours. Then there is the division between warm and cool colours. Obviously, red, yellow, orange are warm…whereas, you would agree, that pink, blue and green are definitely on the cool side. But let’s not get too lost in details, shall we :)!
Basically, if you want your eye colour to stand out, use a complementary colour ๐ Sooo, if you have blue-grey eyes, I’d say go for copper shades…Your eyes will pop like never before!
I came up with two looks for “someone” ( you know who you areย ๐ ) with blue-grey eyes.
I used my lovely makeupgeek (MUG) eyeshadows. The first look has copper on the lid (MUG Glamorous), maroon (MUG Bitten) in the crease, and dark brown (MUG Bada Bing) winged out:
The second suggestion is a bit more “tamed” so to say..no winged liners…just some pretty gold, coral-pink and light brown. Again, courtesy of MUG – inner corner gold (Gold Digger), middle section of the moving lid is coral-pink (MUG Cosmopolitan) and outer part of the lid is a really pretty brown (MUG Pretentious):
But remember: none of this is to say, you shouldn’t use blue or green…you can!…you just have to search for the right shade and place it appropriately ๐
I hope you like these ideas!
