Fun for the summer look :)

The summer is almost over, and I did a fun summer look…that totally makes sense, right?!?! Well, most of the time life makes not sense and at all, so then why bother trying to be logical 😉

Plus, after my last visit to Kruidvat (the local drugstore), I scored 2 new glitter liners from Essence. They are actually called crystal eyeliners, and I believe they are a brand-new addition to the the Essence collection. They come in 5 or 6 colours (blue, purple, black, silver, bronze, and maybe one more, but I am not sure). I picked up Black Star and Flashy Aqua. They cost around 2,50 euros a piece.

To be perfectly honest, I still cannot decide whether I like Black Star. I tried using it on its own in this look, because when I tried it on top of a black liner it didn’t really come out. And on its own, ah, it isn’t very spectacular…it’s not glittery, or shiny..just doesn’t look as glamorous, as you’d expect from a glitter liner…But let me show you:

Do you like it?!

I don’t know…I am not feeling this liner. If you happen to have an idea how to make the most of it, please oh please, let me know..I don’t like buying something and then never using it again. It seems like such a waste!

How did humanity survive…without glitter!?!!!?!?

Seriously?! How is that possible?!

You can tell I have had a revelation today 🙂 Perhaps you have already noticed that I prefer simpler, not very heavy looks. They are colourful, yes, for I love colours…but never too over the top. Which is why I hardly ever do anything really dark, and I generally have stayed away from glitter and too much sparkle. Why, oh, why????!?!

It all started last week, when I was going through my regular check up on the alicejo.com website. It is, of course, an online makeup store. What makes it even more appealing to me, is that they are situated the city I live in, so I can just hop on my bike and pick up my order within a day, without paying additional delivery costs. There was a sale of Barry M products (I will show swatches in a separate post), so I got me a few dazzle dusts (pigments that is) and…a green glitter liner. It was just 1 euro so I thought, “what the heck, let’s be bold!”. I picked it up, got home, dropped it into the rest of my makeup stash….and there it would likely have sunk into oblivion, if it weren’t for a fellow blogger (lisanneblogt.wordpress.com, in case you are interested). She is really talented and I truly admire her makeup looks! Reading her blog inspired me to try out the glitter business 🙂

I was doing something with green, gold, and orange…and I wanted to add the final touch but be different this time. I reached out and after a few-minute search I found it: the Barry M green glitter liner.

One stroke, and I was sold! I really loved the outcome. It definitely isn’t something you can wear to the supermarket, or to work…but on an evening out, sure!

Rainbow and Fire

I don’t really spend all that much time on naming the makeup looks I come up with… And that’s not because I come up with brilliant names instantaneously. No no, I am simply too lazy and impatient. That could be a wrong strategy, after all, a catchy name gives the look somewhat of an additional layer of creativity. Hmm, I should perhaps change my strategy…

Anyway, today’s looks are called “Rainbow” and “Fire”. Not very original, I hear you! It’s just instant  association – my mind associates a certain image with e certain word, and once that happens, the name sort of sticks.

Rainbow doesn’t really consist of ALL the colours of the rainbow, but as it turned out pretty colourful, that was my first association. I really wanted to do something with green and pink, I think it is a beautiful combination :)…and that was the outcome:

I was very keen on using the Chartreuse (Ben Nye) pigment; it is such a lovely grass colour, not very dark..with a hint of yellow. Then I got really inspired to pair it up with the MUG eyeshadow Simply Marlena (gorgeous pink!)…and then I got so excited I couldn’t fall asleep for a while. Yes, I think about makeup before I fall asleep (or recipes for baking cakes for that matter, but that calls for a different blog post!). Sometimes, I even dream of it 🙂 Believe me, that is better, than dreaming about my PhD!

The second look, Fire, was also born last night (at least the idea for it). It combines yellow, orange and red/purple. It was mainly inspired by my idea to use the Barry M Dazzle Dust in Burnt Orange, splendid colour! That is how it turned out:

Have a great weekend!
