What was the very first makeup item you ever owned?… seems like a proper topic for my very first post, don’t you think? 🙂
I must have been 14 or 15 years old (yes yes, in the good old days of the 90s we still played with Barbie dolls until the age of 12 so we discovered make up later) when a friend of mine, Cristina, procured a mascara from somewhere. She also showed me how to use the little magical wand that transformed my eyelashes and gave me a look I had never seen before. OMG miracle of miracles?!?! I had to get me some of that!…And since I have loved colours ever since I can remember, I wasn’t satisfied with only a black mascara. I had a blue and a brown one too (I think from Golden Rose)…I don’t know if it because that was the very first makeup item I ever owned, or because it truly is the only piece of make up that can in one stroke change how you look, but I love love love mascara. If I had to pick only one thing to take with me wherever I go, makeup that is, it would be without a doubt hands down: Mascara! I have used plenty of brands, colours, differently shaped wands through the years – Maybelline, Revlon, Avon, Oriflame, Essence, Gosh, etc. – but the last few years I stick with Max Factor False Lash mascara. Somehow it meets my needs the best. It has a nice thick wand, sturdy bristles, stays put all day (non waterproof version), does not clump or dry out heavily, and lasts for 2-3 months (on almost daily basis use).
And with mascara, it is as if someone opened Pandora’s box…I was introduced to a world of colours, textures, and experimenting with looks.
Let’s not make this too long…what was your very first makeup item?
And of course: welcome to my blog!
